Bare bottom difficulties?

I don't think it belongs in any tank! Lol.
Except maybe a species only that requires such an object... like garden eels. Mangroves. Wrasses that need sand beds.
Pistol shrimp. Frogfish...I'm cheating that one now... sure theirs other critters that fair better with a sand bed but when I find out it needs one I usually say nope! Pass. Lol. Leave it for someone with a substrate.
Doesn't rule out a lot of critters but some.

Ok, so did I :)

Took around 12 months to stabilize and become easier to look at, lol. It’s very easy to look after now though.
I know this is a dead thread but I’m nearly 4 months in with a barebottom sps tank. I don’t have flow dialed in but parameters are good and nothing is really don’t great other than a lepto, stylophora and a candy cane. I slowly bumped the lights up over the 2nd and 3rd month, added cycled media and pods. It’s not taking off yet.
