Bare spot on leather (sarcophyton)

I noticed a spot on my leather, almost a hole. I can’t think of any reason why other than peppermint shrimp. Is this a possibility? I put them in for aptasia control (which they accomplished with flying colors), but now I’m wondering if they’re going for the leather now.

Peppermints definitely have a good possibility of going after corals once the aptasia are gone

It’s going to be a bear to get those little suckers out now. I’m going to see if I catch them in the act.
