Base growth

is it normal to see HUGE base growth with little vertical growth on frags? I have some 1" frags that have like 6" plus bases. I have a 1.5 year old acro with a base as wide as the colony is high. Just wondering if it's normal to see such a large growth in base without much in the way of vertical growth.

Completely normal. Shape is many times dependent on water flow. Generally the stronger the cross flow, the more horizontal the growth.
