Bermuda blue angle fish

Holacanthus bermudensis. Have not been able to find much information on these guys. I am trying to pick an angle fish for my 220 and have a local seller with a Juvenile. Can't find much about them.

Not familiar with this, but looks like it would have similar care requirements to other large angels (like a Queen Angel)

Found this on LA. The angel looks like it has a few common names it goes by. Beautiful fish!

They’re reportedly territorial cleaner fish as juveniles, and reportedly primarily sponge eaters as adults; they get to 18”; they’re also known to eat tunicates, corals, and algae on occasion; they may bother clams; as adults they’re presumed to be monogamous, and are found in pairs year round; reportedly, the juveniles do well in aquariums once they get eating; they’re noted as being aggressive (particularly toward other angels); and they can produce “loud thumping noises”.

They are queens with a slightly different costume, IMO. They are hardy, easy to get to eat, fearless and can be good tank mates if you have a large enough tank, good hiding places and feed them well. They grow fast and are going to outgrow a 220g.

Divers in/around the Florida keys usually have them for sale.

They would be smaller and less aggressive than any of the Holacanthus.

Majestic is the angel I think I want the most in any case. Just more expensive and harder to find.

Emperor would be another good one for that tank size. Koran too. Korans used to be really cheap and easy to find. I don't know if that's still the case. Blue face is a showstopper.

I love the Blue Face. Korans are some what easy to come by locally. See them quite a bit.

Most all of these are going to outgrow a 220. You can still keep them for many years. If you are willing to give them away for free to a better/larger home, then I feel that you can be a good steward for the first number of years of their lives - if you think of them as an investment and want paid for somebody to give them a better home, then stay away (probably from all fish).

LOL, this for sure is NOT and investment for me. Not opposed at all to rehoming as needed if a fish outgrows the tank.

Get a blue angelfish if you want, then. You can get them for less than $100 usually from KP, ReefTopia or many other Florida divers that will ship directly to you.

It was a consideration, but honestly, I would prefer the Majestic. Just costs a lot more, but I have read they are supposed to be easier than the Queens.
