Looking for a change from my 14k phoenix that ive been running for years and liked the growth ive gotten from them. But im looking into changing them to a 20k bulb

just Looking for others opinion on what 20k DE bulbs they like ?

I used radiums that is the bulb i would choose used it over my SPS tank for about 4 years and loved it, only reason i don't have it anymore is i have a lps tank with t5's over it.

Yup...150w is the only DE one in their lineup.

Also my first choice. XM would also be a good choice IMO.

It does depend somewhat on your ballast too.

EVC 20k DE will give you the closest output to a radium of any other 20k DE that I have seen. I came across a graph at one point and they are pretty close.

Never heard of the EVC brand. but say the graph and they do seem very close to radium. might give a try

Phoenix 14k is the best de 20k in my opinion. Even though its advertised as a 14k it's more like a 20k

Yep. They are getting difficult to find though. I just received one from WindyCityReefs. I had to wait a month.

XM and Radium for 20k and Phoenix for 14k because its so blue it almost looks like a 20k

It may depend on what ballast your run..Im running 3 blue wave ballasts and 14k phoneix look like a 10k bulb with a hint of blue. looks nothing like a 20k radium

Yes ballast makes a big difference. A radium on an HQI ballast looks less blue than a Phoenix on electronic.

But if you look at sanjays lighting tests the Phoenix is actually bluer than 20k on most ballasts.

I don't think you will have much luck finding a DE bulb that looks like a radium on your ballasts.

FWIW, the 150w de radium is whiter than the Phoenix on any ballast.
