???

Does this ato work where it doesn't overflow? Does the top sensor or alarm shut the pump off?

Is that pump perfect? I want to make it flow back into the tank slowly, not fast to where it will delay if it does. Not a fast pump where it just tsunamis back into the tank

Why do I hear of people having over flowing problems? Trying to know to avoid that situation

Not sure, I'm not one of those people. If something makes the pump run longer than normal when your not home, you risk not having a topoff, but I cannot think of a scenario where it would overflow unless the sensor failed. Mine has worked flawlessly.

I guess no top off is better than top off on your floor lol

I'm using a small pump I had from a 3g Marineland desktop kit on my Hydor ATO. I put a Two Little Fishes ball valve to slow it down and its been working great.

So does the Aqua lifter pump come with the tubing? Do I need one of those ball valves? 3 gallons per 1 hour? That seems really slow but I like it since a lot of water won't be needed to top the tank off and it is slow to not delay anything! Awesome. But do I need the ball valve or whatever and does the tubing come with the pump?
So all I need is the pump with the tubing and the hydor kit?

The pump also says up to 30 inches high...does the mean if my tank is 3 feet taller than the pump, it won't pump water up the tube?!

Will the Aqua lifter pump up water if my water reservoir is more than 30 inches lower than the tank? And my tank is more than 30 inches taller than the pump?

No, it can only pump up 3ft I think, you would need to have your ATO container higher up. As far as I know there are not any smaller pumps that can pump 6ft+, most of the ones that can do that have a GPH that would flood your tank.

Just go with a mechanical top off and a bucket that won't over flow your sump.

Why? The Hydor one is a great ATO and with the added benefit that you do not have to worry about snails, waves or salt creep.

I'm not talking about a electronic float switch.
But this
