Hey everyone. Looking for recommendations on a reliable return pump to be used for utility purposes or potentially a small ATO setup. What have you had good luck with?

For small utility purposes, I enjoy maxijet or for larger projects, Mag pumps. In terms of the ATO, I've been very happy with the Tunze pumps or aqualifters.

Following, wondering about a small online pump fir this application, such as the sicce syncra nano pump. Anybody use one for an ATO with kalk in it. My aqualifters get clogged regards and where out in about a year.

Kalk will ruin any pump over time.
Varios pumps have a good rep.

I used eco 396 as a return pump in my 40 gallon system. Now I use it for doing water changes. I'll get another one if this one quits.

I wouldn't use it for an auto top off though. It's a little big for that.

Check out Lifegard aquatic quiet one pro series pumps. Very quiet, cheap, multiple different sizes, wet/dry applications. These things come in handy in a bunch of situations.

Just remember that the smaller the pump, the longer it will take to push water. I wish I had upgraded my utility pump earlier.
