So I am looking to buy a sulfur reactor. I would greatly value anyone's opinion on the aquamaxx versus Corallin versus Skimz models. I am sure Aquarium Engineering is the Rolls Royce model, but out of my budget.

They all work on the same principle I've ran a Korallin 1502c off and on over the years and still works great. If you go that route be careful though they can really strip the nitrates out of your tank.

That should be perfect for a pred tank. They really do the trick though I will say my korallin has never let me down even the ehiem pump on it runs like new.

soffutt I run and use Aquarium products . They are all hand built and made to last. You stated that it out of you budget but it isn't. By the time you purchase a used or new and it brakes or fail's your are going to waste time and money, purchase quality equipment the first time and it will last you forever.

How big of a tank could the 4inch diameter model handle?

I use a small reef octopus "bio pellet reactor" on my 220 gallon and it's keeping zero nitrates!!

I purposely use one rated only for a 90 gallon tank because I also use a "pax bellum" algea scrubber with it
I don't understand what the difference is between this pax bellum reactor and a 40 gallon breeder set up as a refugium . Also you need to take this unit apart to clean and harvest algae. In the breeder you can just remove when needed and no big deal.

Hi..The difference is in the pax bellum it has over 30 high output led's incased in a cylinder that literally pops out or you leave it in when taking out the cheato to empty the unit. This design makes atleast with my system 10x the cheato I was getting from just using the refugium setup

All the same in the end as far as pulling nutrients out of the water.
