Does Bio Spira remove NitrAte? How is this possible? Does it contain a NitrAte binder?

Here is my situation. I started a new DT (300 gallon) by cycling dry rock in Brute cans for 5 weeks. I started with adding Dr Tims and ammonia quickly went to zero and Nitrates appeared in week 1. Nitrites however persisted to week 3. I then added Microbacter 7 and by week 5 still had Nitrites. I decided to add the rock to the tank and proceed with light stocking. 4 Damsels, 2 clowns. 3 weeks later I have 0 ammonia, 0.25 Nitrite, 2.5 Nitrate. I try to get the tank to fully cycle by adding Fluval cycle. I added two doses over two weeks and still had 0.25 Nitrite. Finally, I decided to try Bio Spira. I added the Bio Spira and 24 hours later I have 0 Nitrite and 0 Nitrate. How is that possible? Does it have Nitrite and Nitrate binders? The Nitrite makes sense but NitrAte?
