Biogen aquavitro

Is it OK to shut down my Skimmer and Reactor running Biogen balls by aquavitro. I have a feeling that the biological process will continue and get concentrated in my reactor while at rest. Not really sure though‍ Are there any reef chemists out there that can answer my question, gut say safe bet is to remove reactor while it’s off. FYI I’m wanting to bring my Nitrates up a bit so was planning to skim part time just to see results. Anyway not critical, just curious.

I'd run a skimmer 24/7 no matter what the nitrate level was. It is useful for aeration and exporting undesirable organics.

just out of curiosity do you know if Biogen balls can sit idle in a reactor with no ill affects?
