Biopellet question

I'm gonna try running biopellets for the first time in my 220 gallon mixed reef. Going to go more sps eventually. I have a spyglass reactor medium and the only compartment that I can fit the reactor in comfortably is the return section. This is going to pump all the bacteria that fall off the reactor back into the system. I you ideally want it to be right at the inlet of the skimmer. Is this going to be a problem?

It is less than optimal, but realistically speaking, tons of bacteria make it past the skimmer even if you do have the biopellet outlet right next to the intake of the skimmer.

With biopellets, start slowly at about 1/4 the amount recommended. See how that impacts your NO3 readings, and adjust from there. Lots of people have abandoned biopellets because of diatom issues. This is caused by using too many pellets and having too strong of a tumble.

Please let me know how it goes for you. I tried on two seperate occasions to start biopellets on my 300 gallon tank. I too started at 1/4 of the recommended amount and each time had a severe bacterial bloom so I pulled them offline.

I don't use biopellets anymore either. It was just too hard to regulate. I now dose vodka, and considering how little I have to dose, I understand how biopellets were overkill for my system. Others swear by biopellets so if it works, great!
