I understand that Bio Pellets are a source of carbon dosing but are they effective enough to replace a large refugium or algea turf scrubbers? I am pretty fond of refugiums but I need a more compact and efficient form of nutrient export.

From my understanding the pellets melt away at a rate that is determined by your nutrient level which I really liked. Other medias and dosing seem to be more of a guessing game with how much I would need to add; am I looking at it right?

i have been running biopellets for almost two and half years ever since the vertex pellets first came out...Some things you need to know:

1. you need to dose daily or every other day a bacteria source. I dose zeobak and dr tims bacteria as you want the bellets to grow beneficial bacteria and eat the nutrients that feeds cyano. i use to use brightwells mb7 and in my opinion there are better choices for dosing bacteria.

2. start off at half dosage reccomended to your tank and slowly increase.

3. keep your alk between 8-9 dkh is reccomended as you will get burnt sps tips
