The ones used for Koi in the garden. Has anyone ever used them as reef tanks? I see people usin' Rubbermade horse troughs all the time, I would think that the ponds would be the same thing? They come in all differant shapes with selfs and what not, I would bet they would make a sweet look down/lagune/frag type system?

Just thinking out loud. If anyone has done this please post some pics.

I wonder if they would support the water weight/pressure over time without support of dirt around it. Those things are usually fairly thin.

I would think I would suport it with cinder block and wood where needed, I have seen ponds like these set up many times at wholsalers on the floor for months. So I would think that at least the ones I have seen are thick enough to handel being setup with out dirt.

Theres a fish store up north from me that has a lagoon type set up Using patio blocks to build it up from ground level and using the pond liner. Its pretty sweet looking down on the fish and urchins....I guess its more of a river look. On the plastic ponds If you built a box around it with blocks or something and then filled the void with gravel and sand Im sure it would look sweet. you could even do like 6"+ of sand deep all the way around and it could be like your own mini tidepool. Now that would be a good meditation spot.

There shouldn't be a problem at all. If you go that direction please post pics since thats an uncommon why to setup a top down tank
