Black nassarius.

I bought 10 large black nassarius snails today. They're the size of super Tongans. Now i always though that the obsoletas were small, less that half an inch. These guys are huge. Any input on them?

Let me re-phrase that: Are you sure it's a reef safe whelk? I guess Nassarius snails are whelks...

Quite possibly. He said the were Fiji nassarius, but if they are it would be new to me. The illynassa obsoletus is a whelk. So far haven't noticed and aggressive behavior. Even with other small nassarius snails right by them.

Whelk's shells look more like...those macaroni shells (? Thats all i can think to describe it) and nassarius are more round.

Well right now they are tearing up some algae. And the seem to have a rasp similar to other snails.
