Black widow bta with two feet?

I didn't get to see my black widow split the first time so I'm curious to see what's going on with it. I went to move him 5o my 90gal tank and couldn't right away because it had one foot on the wall of the aquarium and the other, which is odd to say, on the side of a piece of live rock. Can someone tell me what's going on with it? It's about 12" fully opened.

Most likely in the process of splitting. They do it all the time.

Thanks, i figured that's what was happening as it did it once before. I got scared when the rock on of the feet was attach to fell and it was quite literally hanging off the one foot while being weighed down by a rock. I'm just grateful it's foot didn't tear.

Yeah I have had various varieties of bubble tips over the years. I haven’t had a black widow, but my greens are indestructible. I haven’t completely destroyed one trying to remove it and it just grew back from some small piece left on the rock. I had one go through a power head years ago and one tentacle was all that was left and it grew back from that.

I can’t kill them if I try.

I just remove them and trade them for water at my LFS or offer them on Craigslist.

So all that to say, treat them with care, but they will likely be just fine no matter what.

I sort of know what you mean. I had two doa's when I ordered a rainbow bta, the last one lost all of it's color and I thought it was a gonner but it's back and healthier than ever. I wish that was the case with a colorado I bought. It lasted a day or two and then I saw a hermit crab that was carrying something and it turned out to be all that was left of the colorado sunburst I had just gotten
