Bleaching rbt.

Hey all,
I set up a new red sea 350 a few months back. However, I did a transfer of the water, sand and live rock from my 3 year old tank so it was relatively more mature.
About a month in I added a rainbow bubble tip. It had awesome color and now has lost most of the neon green. When I set this tank up I chose to do a hybrid light and I suspect this issue is more lighting related.

A hybrid is uncharted territory for me. Anyone have experience with a hybrid and bt’s? I run my kessils at 55% intensity and 45% color. I don’t have a par meter so I don’t know my PAR#’s
I can try feeding small amounts every other day but I want some input on the lighting...too much? Not enough?
I have a picture of when I first put them in vs today.

It looks good to me! I don’t think an unhappy BTA would still bubble up like that and judging as it hasn’t been there long, it may just be adjusting to the water, I would say if you want better colors from it try to see the parameters or the stuff your supplier dosed or fed the tank! Don’t think it’s bleaching or dying tho, just in a different environment taking in different things

Is it possible to rent par meter before turning up the intensity ?
they are little bleached but still look good

Beautiful nems! Even with slight color loss, they look happy and healthy.

I had a similar experience while I was slowly upgrading my lights. Had two RBTAs and noticed quite a bit of color loss but they were still bubbling. As the lights acclimated up for the corals the RBTAs were responding with some color revival. Now the lights are running at pretty high intensity and all the RBTA color has returned. They lost color for over a month but regained all of it.

I bet you need to turn the lights up but renting a PAR meter definitely won't hurt if you're really not sure where your PAR is sitting right now. I think most places recommend 250-350 PAR for a BTA. (I personally have no clue what my PAR reading are but would love to know)..

I can try to get a PAR meter. They seem happy as they have hunkered down in the spot the like. They have good extension And opened up. I just wish the green hadn’t of lost a little color.
Also, they were the 1st thing to add being I wanted them to find their spots before adding corals. (Even though they can move at anytime)

I have had the nems in for about 2 months and am waiting because I want my clowns to host. However, it hasn’t happened yet and I was hoping it would occur more naturally...even though they are designer clowns.
Anyone have tips to get clowns to host without moving the nems into a strainer or collection box with holes and the clowns?
I have had many clowns and nems in the past but I have always had them host within the 1st month and they weren’t captive bred or designer clowns.

You could get a clear tube with the clown in it and kind of slowly push it into the nem. Another theory someone has me trying right now it taping pictures of clowns hosting nems to the tank.... Hasn't happened yet and the pics have been up for a week. Quite a few people were commenting that it worked for them though.

watch your nems if the light is too low for them they will move to a different location (higher).

If they move to a higher spot and still look like they are reaching for the light then increase intensity a little each day untill they stop moveing towards the light.

Your nems almost look to be at the bottom of your tank and happy ? if they arent reaching up wards with there foot towards the light i think your lighting is fine!

as for the RBT hosting the clowns it will happen in time ! myn took a whole year to host !

Thanks everyone for the input. I may try feeding it a little more and see if it helps. One observation made was the depth they are sitting makes it where my lighting would be strong enough.

They look like they're okay :) Still bubbling well is a good sign, if the only bad thing is a little bit of color dullness/loss then you should be okay and they should be able to recover on their own. Giving them some supplemental feedings (like mysis, small meaty foods) once or twice a week should be more than enough to help it regain full color. Don't turn your lights up, allow it to adjust to the higher PAR, then you're clear to turn the lights up a little bit. If there's an acclimation mode for your lights and you wish to have them higher, I recommend using that after your nems regain color to stop another minor bleaching event from reoccurring.
