Ive had him for probably about 8 months and he never did eat anything i fed him. There was nothing in the tank that went missing of that he would eat he just seemed to stay alive. I decided to add two fire fish and a yellow tang today and right away he grabbed a firefish and started eating him. and five minutes later he came out at grabbed the other one. Very sad that he cost me 40 dollars but also happy he started eating. I bought a bunch of feeders but he didnt seem interested. Any sugestions?

Find a cheaper source for firefish. Talk to an LFS and see if they will work with you on firefish. LFS will often do this with starfish for someone that has a harlequin shrimp.

Have you ever tried damsels as they are cheaper?

Have you ever tried damsels as they are cheaper?

I find that damsels are better equipped to avoid being eaten by a predator in aquaria than many other fish.

Can you try feeder guppies or saltwater mollies? I would stay far away from goldfish or rosies. They are not nutritionally sound.

update: I still had a bunch of feeders left. I would just let one rosy red swim infront of him and he showed no interest the next time i placed three and right away he grabbed one. I also placed a goldfish in a net right infront of him and right away he came out and greabbed him. Could i get some tipps on how to train him onto frozen. I normally here just to keep feeding the live food for a bit. Then use a pair of tongs and hold the same type of food in front of his face and do that for a while until he sees the tongs as food, then place something else on the tong.

When I had to feed fish, I chose mollies, they are live bearers and can actually be acclimated to salt. You can get them on sale frequently, I kept a tank with a sponge filter and dosed them with prazipro before I fed them. Doing a saltwater feeder without qt would not be wise, and he may just end up with a damsel as a room mate; they can be difficult.

I had good luck with black mollies when helping a friend get his to eat live food.
