It doesn’t actually say what it is made from that I could find, but it is likely fine. I would clean it carefully inside with warm soapy water and rinse very well to remove things like mold release agents that might have been used in manufacturing.

I'd just watch for the usual things like closed corals, but i don't see that happening due to something released from the plastic. Anything that is present in plastic is likely to be an organic compound that is fairly hydrophobic so wouldn't be very likely to come out, but if it did, would readily bind to GAC in most cases.
