For the people that use filter Socks how do you clean them? I soak in vinegar and rinse thoroughly. Don’t want to use the washing machine.

I was machine washing them with a little bit of bleach, now I don't use them at all. wife get a little nervous when she sees me putting my socks in the washing machine.

Just make sure to have a true union valve for easy removal and clean up !!

I didn't realize a gate would not completely close.

I ordered some black eggcrate for my sump last night. I'm not a fan of the thin white stuff that was in there.

I discovered my sump is not 29 gallons. At best 15. I can always do a bigger sump later. This one should be ok, worked for the previous owner. I can always go bigger down the Rd.

Interesting comments on my numbers, I am feeding more heavily so I am going to put the skimmer running again but on a timer to just run during daytime.
I would put the skimmer in the first chamber, if it fits and have the whole of the centre section as a refugium, that is how I have mine set up but there are corner weirs for the returns to sit in to reduce turbulence.
Nice work on the cleaning.

The triple baffles are called bubble trap, it will reduce the micro bubbles from the skimmer going to the return and display.
