Brand New 8 gallon bio cube

I spy an Oxydator in that sump. I have that same one that I bought for my new tank, but of course it is still dry. Have you had it long and are you happy with it? What concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide do you use and how many catalysts? Tell me again how big your tank is? Sorry for the off topic question @Katrina71 :p
Never apologize. This thread is all about learning! I will have the same question someday.

I'm a mom. I would rather keep my kiddo safe.

That's cool and all, but ground probes are debated. Lots of people don't think they do anything, or have been shocked anyways, and on some occasions the ground plug has shut down a tank when a house got a little power surge (I get those all the time), killing everything while people were gone.

It's always more complicated than yes or no in this hobby katrina. If you think anything here is simple, then you're not looking close enough.

Ok, now I have concerns. Thanks Mulder.

@Rakie I keep looking for signs of aggression with my firefish. None so far. One is definitely alpha. Does this mean my chances are pretty good that I actually did get a mated pair?

No.

That's the problem, people who report problems say things will be fine for a long time, even years... Then one day, poof, fighting. Just accept it as a possible inevitability and don't stress over it. I tell new people the same thing -- one day you're gonna wake up and the whole tank is gonna be dead. Same thing here, except with these two fish possibly fighting.

I use a grounding pole. With an AIO aquarium the quickest path to the pole is always away from livestock. My house has only lost power once during a tornado in 15 years and power fluctuations have not been a concern. My power station plugs into a GFCI outlet and the grounding pole is direct into the GFCI outlet.

And stop dying @Katrina71 it's bad for your health

Funny, you once said, smartly, our systems want to self destruct. It just occurs to me perhaps our bodies have the same ambition.

Grounding probes can absolutely do their job. I've just seen everything fail, I don't trust a thing, not even the silicone.

Yep, and I stand by that. Our tanks and fish and corals are desperately trying to die. It's our job to keep that from happening. That's the mindset I keep, and the mindset I try to instill in people.

Yet at the same time, I also try and tell people to not stress or worry, because even though the end is always looming, you can fix anything. And if you even have a single friend in this hobby you will get some corals when your tank stabilizes. So yeah, the end is coming, but everyone here is capable of dealing with it efficiently and effectively.

I’m not an electrician, I just know what I do on my system. I run GCFI, only because my family and my safety are priority. I know there is a chance is fails without cause but I’ll take the chance. I’ve has a stray voltage issues once on a tank and didn’t have a grounding probe or anything. Didn’t hurt the fish or me, but I did fix it once I discovered the problem.

So im on manhattan reefs. and this guy is literally annoying the Sugar.Honey.Iced.Tea. outta me. I'll get my hair brush. Someone also needs to tell all LFS, "I do not know" is an acceptable answer.
