So my wife and I are picking up a few different biocubes, specifically the 29 and 32 gallon systems. We have been watching Craigslist and Facebook marketplace and have found a couple really good deals on them, so decided to set them up to raise some broodstock.

I've reared banggai cardinalfish, ocellaris, percula, clarkii, and tomato clown fry before, and have spawned but not successfully raised bluestripe pipefish, black cap basslets, neon dottybacks, neon gobies, pajama cardinals, mandarins, and twinspot hogfish (lack of food for fry and lack of experience were major factors here). Now that we have our own house we have jumped back full speed into reefkeeping, and looking to jump back into trying to rear marine fish. Will be restarting copepod, rotifer, and phyto production shortly.

We will definitely be getting a pair of erectus seahorses for one of the tanks, and will probably house them with a pair of purple firefish. As far as 1-2 other biocubes go, what broodstock would you suggest? We will definitely have a pair of clowns in at least one of the tanks as well, and a pair of banggai cardinalfish

My wife surprised me today with a breeding pair of bluestripe pipefish. They go all over the tank with each other, and the male currently has a belly covered in eggs. Not planning on doing anything with this batch of fry since I have no foods set up, but at least getting my broodstock!

You could try your luck with orange spotted filefish. I currently have 3 healthy pair, but haven’t seen any breeding behavior yet. I was able to get all of them eating on the day they arrived with Masstick.
