Bristle worm and hammer

So last night I saw this big bristle worm in the mouth of hammer.

I ended up getting him out, but this morning the coral looks pretty bad.

Has anyone had any experience with this ?

Yes and they do recover- a reason why bristle worms Not welcomed in any of my tanks
