BRS bulkheads loose

I picked up some 3/4" ABS thread x slip bulkheads from BRS. I also grabbed some male threaded to slip sch 40 PVC fittings from Lowes (Lasko brand).

When I thread the fitting into the bulkhead, the threads are really loose the whole way and I am able to screw it in completely with a little bit of play.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do the lowes adaptors just run small and I need to get them from somewhere else, or are the BRS fittings overpriced BS that need to be returned?

Largest measure of Lowes adaptor NPT thread diameter is 1.0375 in with precision calipers. Diameter of bulkhead is 1.055 in if that is useful information to anyone.

I have never had any issue with PVC fittings from Lowes. Your measurements sound correct for the fittings. So it sounds like the bulkheads are bad.
