BRS Giveaway

I realize this might sound like sour grapes, but doesn't BRS's latest giveaway ring a little hollow? Basically, it appears that if you buy something from them this holiday season you have a chance of getting your payment refunded. That seems like the ultimate 'all strings attached' form of charity. They're not obligated to do this but considering how sponsors have stepped up to the plate for this forum (no strings) i can't help but be a little disappointed. It's an obvious ploy to drum up sales.

Ok, I have been hesitant to post up on this on the forums as I have been hoping for the best outcome. I won a box of goodies and still haven't received it. I messaged them several times and they made half-butt excuses. Now IMO I won't get the things I won as they started giving me the cold shoulder. The process seems like an extensive scheme to get the reefing community to make purchases they usually would for the possibility of winning. Who knows maybe I'm wrong. But it had soured my thoughts of BRS immensely.

It sure looks like the purpose for these 'customer appreciation' events is purely to drum up business. I have to give them credit for finding effective ways to accomplish this but it would be nice if they weren't so transparently obvious about the motives.

Still a good retailer with a large selection of products and information online. They are evolving, however, now that they have investors.

I feel if I wasn't watching the event and didn't see it live, id never of knew about it. How many weren't watching and didn't receive their prizes? I'm still hoping I'm wrong but we are crossing into what five or six weeks since the giveaways...

Was it the 'giveaway' where some customers received refunds for purchases made at some point in the past? If it was that one, you would have to check the account uses to make the purchase to see if you have new funds. Or it could have been that customers received BRS points in their BRS accounts.

No, it was one where they had boxes of stuff they were giving away. Just to name a few of the things I won were. An Mp-10 and battery backup, A temp controller, and a heater... id have to rewatch it to remember everything. There were a bunch of smaller things also. Like a few racks, a hat, and shirt, some clips for the PSU for the mp10..some fish food. Off hand that is about all I can remember.

How long ago did you win? They probably don't have the sense of urgency you are hoping for and they'll ship it when they're ready.

Around Black Friday Time..... cant remember if it was before or right after Thanksgiving.

That has been too long to not hear anything, IMO. Try calling them on Tuesday.

I have, about 10 days after the giveaway I messaged them and they said they were still sending stuff out but had no tracking, I wanted to make sure I knew when it was being sent out so the packages just didn't sit on my porch. I again emailed them a week later and got they didn't know the response but not to worry, then right before Christmas I was told they were away for the Holidays. I just sent them a new message yesterday but haven't heard anything.

Update: Resolved & Happy

Last Friday I got an email that said my situation was being rectified, Yesterday I received a package from BRS that included all the things I had won during the live giveaways. I'm very glad my situation got worked out and I'm very happy with the free things. A huge shout-out to BRS for everything I received but I still can't help to think if I wasn't watching it live I wouldn't have gotten the products.
