Bryopsis / Fluconazole Questions

40 gal breeder. Oase canister plus Octo 100
Hob skimmer. 8 months old. Fish & snails/hermits. No coral yet; need to get rid of big bryopsis bloom.

Using fluconazole today. A few questions;

1. How soon after dosing should I do a water change?

2. Skimmer will be off. I’m thinking of temporarily replacing it with a hob filter, no media just physical filter to help capture dead bryopsis. Is this a good idea?

3. I’ll be monitoring nitrates & phosphate (Hanna). I have a bottle of Dr Tim’s; would it be a good idea to toss it in? And if so, when?

When I dosed fluconazole last month, I turn my skimmer off for about a week then turned it back on. After a few days started running filter socks to catch the die-off. At the 3 week mark did about 20% water change and dosed more fluconazole for the volume that I changed. Plan on doing a 30% water change next week and turning the UV back on then.

I had great results following the instructions. Its not a quick cure but it works extremely well. And it wont come back unless its reintroduced.
