BTA Insertion

I have a friend that really wants to add a BTA to his tank, but is really worried about it wandering around stinging everything to death. I have added 2 to my tank with no issues, one stayed put, the other wandered around but didn't sting anything it touched (Currently rubbing up against my vivid rainbow acro with no side effects.) What are some things to remember or techniques to try to make this a successful addition?
I also remember reading that some variations of BTA are less aggressive than others.
