Bubble Algae, V Snails, and Aiptasia oh my

Seems as though i got it all. I even had digitate hydroids at one point. The above mentioned pests are all in check, but i fear there will be no beating them since they can live in your sump and plumbing. What is next for me to get! I want to make sure i’m perfect!

It is certainly possible to completely get rid of aiptasia with berghia nudibranchs.

There are a few crabs that eat bubble algae like emerald and pithos. Some people have reported using algaecides have completely killed off all bubble algae in their aquariums(understand the risks involved before trying this method).

For the vermetid snais some claim that bumblebee snails will eat them all, but that has not been my experience.

You can also just manage your pest population instead of trying to completely remove them all. Get some fish and inverts that munch on those critters and you’ll probably be fine long term.

Here is a vid of my tank. My parameters are nitrates 5 and phos is .25. Been working driving these down via my refugium.

For vermatids, i have four bumblebee snails in the tank. For the bubble algae i have myself and the foxface. Emerald crabs seem to never touch it. For the aiptasia, i cover them with glue and i add nudibranchs from time to time. Right now i can’t add any as the bumblebee snails would probably eat them.

Note: Lights just came on not long ago so some of the corals are still just waking up.
