Bubble coral deflated

For some reason, my bubble coral has been starting to deflate at a pretty fast rate. Does anyone know what is happening? The lights are still at max intensity.

There is also some brown string hanging off of the coral. Is it just poop?

What’s the best way to evaluate the health of a bubble coral at an LFS? Any wisdom or tricks to share?
I’m interested in buying one and am a little nervous about vetting a potential frag,
