Bubble Coral Slime toxic warfare

I was doing some cleaning and put a magnum water polished in my tank at the same time. it added alot more flow to my already flow rich tank. As a result my big bubble coral started sliming and a number of my acros got hit. they died no to much later. anyone with experience here. possible chemical warfare?

I was doing a big algae scraping and added a magnum water polisher to the tank to filter up the loose algae i was scraping off the tank. I have large bubble coral that i think was hit with too much direct water flow. As a result is started producing a lot of slime that went adrift throughout the tank hitting a number of the neighboring corals. Many of those then died, especially the sps. One of my hypothesis is the slime is toxic and killed the other corals. As one of my acans close to my bubble got fried when my bubble grew close to it. I am trying to see if anyone has any similar experience to support my hypothesis. As i will most likely get rid of my bubble coral as it cost me some major $$ in dead sps. @jda @Tahoe61 anyone? I lost 1/2 of my tank on that screw up and the other 1/4 on the depression that followed. Now i am back in humility and trying to make a comeback.

I would bet on a Euphyllia/LPS over any SPS in a fight. That being, said I never have heard of anything like this. Your acros should have had enough of their own slime coat to protect them, but I do not know for sure. There is a reason why I do not keep anything but acropora and clams in my tanks and even though this specific reason is not one of them, it is a good reason in the generic sense.

Ahh, gotcha. Yes, I have had something similar to this happen in my tank. Although it was only on a piece of the digitata I had up high. Heavy slime can hurt and kill whatever it lands on and smothers.
