Bubble-Magnus continually overflowing after adding Acurel Phos Reducer

Hi - I added half of an Acurel Phos Remover pad yesterday to bring down ever rising phos (.2) until I sort out the best investment like GFO reactor, etc. My Bubble-Magnus Curve 5 Elite will NOT stop overflowing despite slowly adjusting the valve, disassemble/reassemble after cleaning, checking settings, etc.... I cannot stop the overflow at any setting. Obviously related to adding the Acurel pad, but I need both to function for a few days. Any suggestions? (Other than pull the pad out....)

The pad contains both GFO and aluminum oxide. Both absorb Phos. Neither one acts like lanthanum chloride . Is it possible by cutting the pad you released the powdery contents of the pad into your water column?
I would remove the pad and see if that makes any difference.

Great info, thanks. Thing is, I need to pad to suck up some Phos and help with the GHA outbreak I've battled for a few months. Decisions, decisions......

I had a Bubble Magus 7; it would overflow with pads, new unwashed socks, etc., so I had to let it overflow and discard the overflow. Usually, it takes about a gallon or so, then add new, fresh mixed saltwater. Most of the time, this will solve the problem. As for removing phosphate, I highly recommend the Phosphate-E easy formula, which I can understand and is very precise. It will help you remove phosphate safely, .05 at a time. I also recommend Brightwell PO4-Xport cubes (not the bricks) GFO. It is very easy to use and control, and you don't need a reactor. I am surprised not too many people use this product; it is not messy, and there is a per-volume formula you can adjust.
