I have a 51 AIO tank. These fit in the back chambers. The biggest concern for me is noise. Second, performance. Let me know what is the best choice. One dimension needs to be 5 1/2 inch or less

How are the noise level on these. Also, which one is better in terms of performance? I think one is a cone and one is traditional?

Out of the two I would go with the nac3.5. It has a superior bubble plate which will make the skimmer body have less turbulance. As for noice, they are very quiet skimmers.

How do these compare with Tunze 9006 or SWC in terms of noise and performance?

I ahve two friends with the nac6 and you don't hear a thing. I don't hear my SWC 160 cone either. I would have to assume that the two you posted are going to be the same way with noise.

Thanks for both your responses. I'm just a bit paranoid because I hate noise. Is it dead silent? Or close enough?

Between the BM, I would go with the 3+ 'cause of more contact time...the body is more wider than the 3.5

I HATE anhy noise as well. I cannot hear any noise from their skimmers when the return pumps are on. I can barely hear the air suction when the return pumps are on. Speaking of which, neither skimmer has an air silencer. You can make you easily with a medicene container. Without a silencer, you WILL hear the air being sucked in to the skimmer.

Yes, but the cone shape and bubble plate allow for less turbulance. Turbulance causes the skimmer to not work as well as it could be.

I'm scared about the air noise. I hate siphon noises. I get it with overflow sometimes.

When you say you can barely hear the air suction when the return pumps are on, your not referring to the whirlpool noise are you? That is very loud in my room.

Also, is the water travelling up that diagram? I've never owned a skimmer, so I have to guess around haha. I'm not familiar with all the parts.
