Most new skimmers have a break in period before they start working effectively. I have the curve 7 and I had to put it on a stand at first so it was only in a couple inches of water until it settled down after a few weeks. I’m wondering why you are running a skimmer so soon if this is a new tank and you have not added fish yet. There’s probably not much organics in the tank yet for the skimmer to remove.

I have the same skimmer and it seemed to take forever to break in. Pull the plug on the cup and let it run.

I had to put mine on a stand to help get it dialed in right - but as others have said pull the hose and let it overflow till it settles down - having fish and some waste etc in the water will help it start to break in as well and get some grim on the walls and collection cup
