Looking to purchase my first protein skimmer for my new set up with sump.

Could I have some advice on protein skimmers. I'm looking at the bubble magus for my 250ltr

The magus 3.5 best for aquariums 100-300ltrs
Or
Magus curve 5 best for aquariums 300-500ltrs

Would the 5 be better or too powerful?

Seen a second had 7 would this be overkill and should it be a new purchase?

I have bubble magus 5 on my 151 litre. When it comes to skimming, I've always believed that bigger is better.

Depending on how much livestock you have in your tank and how else your filtration is set up, i'd go with the Curve 5.

I have a Curve 5 working as a 2nd smaller skimmer in my 600 l setup and it's a work horse.

Never Had much luck with bubble magus. VERY Finiky. Reef OCTO is better buy IMO. Good luck

i have a curve 5 on my 75G tank and it does a great job.
Also have a Curve 7 Elite on my 210G also works great.

I have a Curve 5 elite on my 80 gallon display with a total system volume of around 160 gallons. It skims really really well but I had to raise it up higher than what was recommended to get it working. The skimmate is dark green and thick. I'm very happy with it.

Hey GM what is the difference between the Bubble Magus "Elite" skimmers (5 and 7), as compared to the regular? Thanks

DIFFERENT PUMPS, ELITE USES SICCE and the others a different pump. ALso Color difference as seen in PICS.

I have Bubble Mag Elite 9. I love the skimmer but the pump for it Sicce is way too loud . The DC pump upgrade cost 300. If I could go back in time I would have gotten the Reef Octo with DC pump.
