Bubble tip anemone problem

I've had a rose bubble tip anemone for just over a year now and it has been healthy, eating and full. However over the last month its health has started to decline. It is shriveled, has small stubs for tentacles and wont take food. I have been using store bought reverse osmosis water for the tank, but a month ago I bought own at home reverse osmosis water filter. My parameters are...
Salinity: 1.025
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 1-2 ppm
I also have 1 true percula clownfish that is hosting the anemone and he seems to be doing fine. What can I do to get this anemone back to health?

does that correlate to the “decline”? I put that in quotes because it might not be a decline. Anemones dont really need feeding. We do it to supplement them.

Also 2 days ago the anemone started moving around the tank and has been sticking to the rock however it is now sitting on the sand.

Yea he doesn’t look good. Definitely not healthy at the moment. You said you bought your own ro filter. Can you link it?

I have also ordered a TDS tester which should be arriving soon.

That’s what I run too lol unless you’ve ran the di canister out or your water is really bad, I don’t anticipate you’ll see any tds in the water.
how are you measuring salinity?
any lighting changes or other additions to the tank (did you accidentally overfeed or drop something in there)?
Been using the same salt?

If those answers don’t trigger something, then might have more luck if @revhtree or mods moves this to the clownfish forum.

ive seen a lot of anemones throw a tantrum but none straight out of the blue and for this long. Is there a rogue clean up crew?

Everything has been steady for the last few months however other than the water filter we did have a black cyanobacteria bacteria outbreak that could be causing some issues.

Also, the light that I currently have on the tank is an AI prime and one day a week or two ago I did feed a tiny amount of pellets that do add an extra bit of nutrients to the water however that was after he started to shrink.

I dunno if being undernourished is your nem's problem, but it's worth a try if things don't improve soon.

How did you get a feeding response? The last time I fed my anemone the tentacles were not sticky what so ever but it had not eaten in a week and every time I've tried to feed it has rejected the food.

Thank you so much for the thread. How big were the chunks of clams that you are feeding?

About the size of a BB at first. Now it'll take whatever I give it. I turned off all circulation in the tank and dropped it onto what tentacles it still had with a turkey baster. The only challenge was keeping the fish away untill it took the clam in. I chased them off with the baster.

Thanks I'll definitely be trying that. I just tested the ro/di water and it came back 0ppm. Do you think it could be reacting to the black cyanobacteria on the sand bed?

I’ve never had black cyano so I couldn’t tell you but I’ve had red and they hated it. Maybe it’s a bacterial thing. I’m glad someone else chimed in. Also, what size tank is this for only having one prime. It could be the light if it’s not getting enough.

I brought mine back from the brink. It wasn’t sticky at all so I had to cut all flow off and place food right at the mouth and leave the flow off until it ate. After about a month of doing that two times a week it started to grab food on its own and start recovering its color. Good luck.

The tank is 13.5 gallons so only a nano and the light is an AI prime running with these settings.

Thanks I'm gonna try doing that method tomorrow as today he was curled up into a big ball today.
