what does it look like?
I know, crazy for asking, but just want to make sure its not dying.

Sometimes they look crazy, the mouth opens and it looks like it is spitting out it's stomach. Other times it will pull its body up and around it's tentacles like a sleeve.

I quit feeding mine it was getting to big. Now it only eats what my clowns bring food to it. They actually feed it, it's crazy.

Now I heard silversides are not good for anemone's

I dont feed any of my anemones. I've never seen them poop. My clowns feed THEIR anemone.

This is actually a friends and we were worried it was dying, but sounds like its normal

Thanks

Hmm, I have two RBTA and a GBTA and have never seen them do that. If I ever do though, I wont worry about it now.
Thanks agian

Why arent siliversides good for RBTA's ? I was feeding the hell out of mine with silversides to get him to split, he as getting waaaaaaay to big. Sure enough he split into three.

I dont know, it was commented about at one time when someones amenone died that they fed their anemone silversides and others stated that, that was probably the reason, that the silversides had gone bad and made them sick. My anemones get feed by their clownfish and thats fresh shrimp and scallops and vitamins.
I feed my eel silversides, but I dont feed my fish anything that I wouldnt eat. If it even looks a little bad, I throw it away.
Just speculating, maybe if they use more of the food and there is not as much waiste they dont need to expell it as often. Silversides seem to be an oily fish and maybe thats why they poop more.

I would like to see a picture of this if it's possable it sounds diffrent and cool.

Lorrie - Thank you for directing me to this. We have what I was told to be a colonial RBTA but now I'm doubting it's a bubble tip. But, for the week we've had it, it's pooped nearly every evening when the lights go out. It's a dark colored almost web-like material. As this happens, his body/foot covers over most of his tentacles. Once done, he'll come back out. I'll try to get a photo of this tonight before all the lights go out. As he's out in full bloom during the day, I don't believe this to be something bad.

My bubble tip is doing the same thing now. He is tucked up under the live rock with his body covering most of his tentacles. There is a thin brown slime as well. How long do yours normally stay like this?

That does not sound normal. This thread is from 2011, I would start a new thread with lots of info about your tank, parameters, and how long you had the anemone
