Oh No!! Gutted!! Never had that happen thanks to a decent lid... might all change with the new lights as I'll be going 'topless' lol.

Lights will be 2 Evergrow IT5012s, mounted on the tank... I've heard some good things from the states where they're sold as Reefbreeders photon v2.

Lights ordered! 2 Evergrow IT5012 units... knocked the UK supplier down to £898 for the pair, delivered. Should be here Wednesday.

Will need to mod my hood to support them... I have a wooden frame with a lid which is screwed into the supports on the surround. I should be able to remove the screws, taking out the top of the hood whilst leaving the surround and supports in place.

My intention is to then drill holes in and use the tank mounting struts that come with the lights to slot into the holes. Should put the lights at about 8 to 10 inches above the water, which will give me good front to back spread.

Will post a few pics once they're installed... I'll also have to move a few corals around as some of my LPS are too high in the tank for the new lights...

Can't wait!

Lights arrived... along with all the other goodies.

Cp55 is in the tank, great flow. I've switched off the two big 20000lph pumps for the time being, may have a job for them yet...

Ato unit arrived, but without a pump... credit to the retailer tho, no problems, just messaged him to say it was missing and he's sending me one in the post :)

The new biopellet reactor is yet to arrive.

Pics as I unboxed the light... there's two of these monsters to go on. Will be a good few hours work to mod the lid.. am also going to have a sort out in the cabinet... wires are all a complete mess atm.

Hopefully get around to it on Friday... I have a few jobs to do to keep the wife happy first lol.

On... albeit temporarily... hood has been modded but ran out of time to drill the holes for the tank mounts.

Haven't set up a proper schedule yet... another job for tomorrow. On 1% blues for the night...

A few more pics... am toying with the idea of leaving the lights as they were... light spill is minimal, par is obviously higher... the only real drawback is that there is a bit more disco effect when they're lower down...

I'm currently testing!!

Coral shopping tomorrow... acro / sps frags :)

Picking up a really nice blue monti digi frag on weds from a local reefer too...

Also on the agenda... setting up the ato and 80l top off reservoir and finalising the installation of the lights.. going for about 8" off the surface, raised on the mounts. Will also be doing a minor rescape... need to move a number of LPS to lower light / lower flow areas... my acan and alveopora are beginning to suffer with the new lights and gyre.

Still not hugely happy with the lighting schedule... more playing needed.

Right... picture time.

Sump sorted now, ato in place and went shopping today :)

I'd intended to get a few acro frags and a couple of other sps, depending on what my LFS had in... what I ended up with was one frag, one small colony and a huge mistake!!

I know it'll likely die, but it was in the shop and I couldn't let it die in there could I??

On the plus side, it's feeding on my homebrew food so that's a plus!
