Hey all,
Wanted some advice. I’m seeing some burnt tips on a few acros, and recently my purple stylo colony has been slowly receding from the bottom up.
Tank is an 80 gallon AIO peninsula. Has been up and running for a year now and really hit a groove about a month ago, but running into some hiccups recently. I’ve attached photos of recent parameters. I find my parameters have been very consistent (not my first rodeo and I prioritize consistency over set points). Nitrates are low but have largely always been that way. My phosphates are elevated. I did confirm with Hanna that the trident is accurate, but my phosphates have largely been like this for months. I feed pretty varied diets and frequently. So I’m attributing phosphates to feeding. No real nuisance algae’s though.
Stock list is:
White tail bristle tooth
juvi Regal
Oreni tilefish
Clown pair
Six line
Melanurus
Multibar angel
I tried running some GFO in a filter bag to reduce the phos, and there does seem to be a correlation to adding fresh GFO and burnt tips on some acros. I removed the GFO over the weekend. There was no change in phos values so figured I’d just eliminate that variable. Alk doesn’t seem high enough to be causing burnt tips, but maybe in conjunction with the low nitrates? It’s only impacting certain pieces. Most acros are doing just fine. The purple stylo has been impacted the worst. It’s high up under 3 x Noo-Psyches peaking at about 35% (primarily white spectrum). This light schedule has been in place for roughly 6 months unchanged. The stylo is also right in front of my Orbit 4 so maybe too much flow?
