Decided to go with a slightly bigger skimmer for my current bioload. I switched it out last night and so far in 24 hours im quite impressed. I originally had the bubble magus curve 7. It took forever to break in but did pretty good once it did. I replaced it with a buble magus curve D9 (love bubble magus btw). It has been skimming within 3 hours of startup. It may not be the darkest nastiest stuff but its close to it and its rated for much more which is better for my biolaod.

On another note im pretty sure ive figured out the major problem with keeping sps in my tank. Some may disagree but its the one thing that was a huge gamechanger for me. I talked to someone recently about have too much flow and decided to turn down my gyres which were at %90 opposite pulse each to %30 pulse and since its been close to a month with a green birds nest and 1 acro doing very well. Before ALL sps were dying miserably with rtn within a week. This may or may not be the solution but it was definitely a major one. Pics will be included

LOOK AT THAT SKIMMER! Everybody looks great! I love the coral selection you have!

What is this guy here?
Thanks! Im loving the skimmer so far. That’s actually just a giant colony of acans. Just plain red but they are always hungry!

Ive had a few ups and downs the past few months messing with things teying to figure out why i couldnt keep sps. I think i may have gotten things exactly how i want them. One major thing was o was getting way to much par once i added the t5 and had no idea for months till i got a lux meter. Par at the surface was past 800. I also stopped kalk and went back to auto dosing with my aquamedic. I went to kalk for more ph but it wasnt worth the alk and cal swings. Instead i switched to randys 2 part alk with the ph boost and added a scrubber now my ph drops no lower than 8.15 at night and gets up to 8.3 ish during the day. Now i can keep my alk at 8.0 and calcium at 430. Coralline has started growing alot again so thats a good sign. I did add fiji mud which over the past few weeks has my chaeto growing even faster. Unfortunately the torches in the pictures above have taken a hit. My big beautiful one got brown jelly and died head by head over a week and then gave it to my gold torch which i then took out and chopped off two heads to save the one followed by a coral dip. So far its doing well. Recently i recieved a few frags so fingers crossed. Ive had things stable and good to go so hopefully they thrive
