Calcium reactor media reborn

Hi, I’m considering using reborn as calcium reactor media. Is there any worry of this media carrying pests or anything alive?

Worried about adding things like briopsis, bubble algae, aiptasia, flatworms etc. I believe this stuff is directly from the ocean?

Its a dry media, shouldn't have any pests on it, I use the large course pieces and my melt point is 6.3 with a secondary chamber and my effluent is 25 to keep with demands

No, the media are dead corals, so it does not contain pests like you describe.
There is a BRS video where says that has more phosphate that other medias, but I don't have any problems with that.

What’s the lowest ph have you had with reborn. My effluent isn’t potent enough for my tank. I feel like I’ll be dosing 80ml a minute the way it is.

We run the reborn large size in all our calcium reactors and as substrate in some of the soft coral propagation tubs. No issues with it. I usually keep the reactor pH around 6.67 and it doesn't turn to mush.

It’s at 31dkh at 35ml/min. I went up to 55ml/min and at 16. With a ph at 6.4 brand new apex probe calibrated before putting it on. This was the first thing I checked once I saw my all dropping in my tank. It use to be a lot more when I first started for effluent potency.

I run large size to. It just doesn’t have the effluent like it use to have. I lowered ph and went more ml a minute and still dropping. This is sps packed tank. I’ll drop 2dkh within 12 hours.

How many ml/min are you running and what reactor are you using? When I had my system at home going full tilt we were doing around 150ml/min in a GEO 1218

I got a the old vertex 6 reactor. I didnt know you’ll be running that high of ml a min. I’m at 55ml.

Best thing Ive ever done is go on a calcium reactor. Your tanks gonna thrive with one. I’ve been on this reactor for almost 2 years now. I’m just starting to have problems with it with the effluent being not as potent. The tanks demanding more. So going up in ml it is dropping potency

@X-37B blowing dust off this. I’m running reborn and feel like I can’t get my affluent above 25. I was at 90MLM at 6.38 with 25dkh. Dropped it back to to 45, and no pick up. Pushed it to 120 MLM and I am holding at 6.38 but DKH down to 21. I’m about to set it to 2.28 and crank a few more bubbles into it. Do you know the point at which large reborn turns to pancake batter?
