calling all Anglerfish owners

I had a red/orange angler about 10 years ago, very little was known about them then. I had him for about a year before I feed him a fish too big and he died. His color never changed and I had him in a tank with nothing but plain rock, he was always a shade of orange. The best LFS in my area has 2 warties that are a purple brown color, blended in with the drab tanks they hold them in. They told me they always lose their color. Can anyone share their experiences with the color changes of their anglers. Oh yeah he was about 3.5" when I got him and was a Painted Angler. I'm setting up a 29g for a red/orange painted right now, I am in the process of collecting all the red and orange corals I can find. Thanks
