Lol that's why I haven't built mine yet haha. Me and my buddy bought 24 lowers the morning of the massachusetts ar15 ban. I ended up utilizing my full build budget I had saved up on just those alone.

I like it. Very accurate for such a heavy round. I don't shoot it a lot because stainless steel is not one if you want to run a lot of rounds through it. Saving it for shtf day.

i understand that smokin , iv no problem with them at all , wish i could own one myself to keep my family and house safe but the people who run my country are to stuck up their own butts, plus they live in nice places were theres not a junkie just waiting for you to go out and rob ya house

I've got a 6.8 that I love shooting. I used a White Oaks Armory barrel and haven't had any issues. Also built a 5.56 with a DPMS upper and bought a DPMS 6.5 AR-10 assembled.

Are you looking for low price or for high quality?

If you are not too restricted in price then I recommend you take a serious look at the PWS mk114 from Precision Weapon Systems. From the moment I first held this AR-15 style rifle its feel in my hands was the best I had ever experienced. After zeroing it in, it was very accurate. I shot tighter groups at 100 meters than I had been shooting previously.

This rifle has a Wylde chamber which properly enables you to shoot either 556 or 223 ammunition, unlike conventionally chambered rifles. .223 ammo is less expensive which helps when you are target shooting or just plinking.

Also this is a direct piston action rifle. It eliminates 95% of the cleaning effort as the chamber doesn't really foul like direct gas impingement does.

This part isn't exactly true.. You can shoot 223 in a 556 all day long case size shape and all is nearly identical. The difference is in the pressures a 556 is a hotter round so thats where its not good to shoot 556 in a 223 rifle thats where a wylde chamber comes in it'll handle the higher pressure of a 556 in a 223 chambered rifle

I think I've narrowed it down to these two deals.

The one from grab a gun is the cheapest I have seen for that gun so far. Only problem is as you can see its out of stock. I could wait and see if I can manage to snag one when they get some back in stock and save some $ for some better accessories.

Or,

I could go with the one on cdnn which I don't think is necessarily a bad deal it's just that I'm not really sure how great the scope or if I would prefer a different/better scope instead. Same with the rail. I really like some of the rails magpul makes so if I got the gun from the other site I wouldn't be wasting money on something I wasn't going to utilize if you guys get what I'm saying.

All in all, both are good deals. I think if I can't manage to get the one off grab a gun in a week or two I might just get the one on cdnn.

On a side note, I went to bass pro shop the other day and I was actually surprised to see that they had a Ruger ar-556 in stock and it was priced at 700 bucks. That was the first time I had actually seen and held one irl. Also the cheapest I've witnessed at a brick and mortar store.

I got a cheap $50 scope from Amazon - no name - and it has been surprisingly good. 50mm, lighted reticle (red and green graduated) and even came with mounting rings for the AR. It remains on target even after 100's of rounds through it, which is the main concern of cheaper scopes, drift, loosening up and generally not able to take the vibration of firing the gun over and over.

I am a FFL and I've sold a bunch of the M&P line and the Ruger AR-556 and have received good feedback on each. Each on will go bang when you pull the trigger and have even received feedback that both do well with the dirty shooting Russian ammo. You can save a couple bucks building your own but there are a few points that you could get wrong and have a non-functioning or poor functioning rifle. If you choose to go this route do your homework on the proper parts and tools needed to assemble the AR15. My opinion is buy an assembled rifle for your first rifle. There is nothing more frustrating than buying all the parts, assembling them, and then it not working properly. I am not saying you can't do it but you will most likely avoid some frustration. If you choose to assemble make sure you place the pins/springs in your lowers with a plastic bag over it (large clear freezer bag ). Those springs can spring away and they are very hard to find. How does the Colt expanse m4 compare to the Ruger ar-556? Is it worth spending 100 bucks more or not really?
