Is the gulf live rock same as Tampa bay rock because mines exploded

I'm curious how big these will actually get. Most things I've read say a couple inches across the disc at most. I'm already at that point with mine. Anyone have one that has gotten even bigger?

dang, yeah, Tampa Bay rock is Gulf Rock. I may kill it if there's a chance that it does what yours did. Do you have rock from anywhere else besides straight from Tampa Bay?

Mine started the size of a small finger nail. It has grown remarkable quickly the last 3 or 4 months. Hasn't spread at all. Fish leave it alone. It's fun watching it eat. When it feels threatened it retracts to the size of a nickel, which is also fun to witness. I'm glad I kept it. That being said, if it spreads and pops up everywhere I'll regret my decision of course. I figure when you spend money and order real gulf rock, you roll with it.

They can get big… Not Huge…. But they do reach out and expand. What size tank is it in?

No it was there already and then I got Aussie live rock
