One of my nerite snails (1") started grazing on the trunk of my hammer coral (4") around a week ago, and he's been in the same spot for a week. Is it possible that the hammer has killed or paralyzed the snail?! Both have been in my tank for over a year.

Could it just be stuck ? Have you tried pulling it out and seeing if it’s alive ?

Yes a hammer can kill a snail. Ive had to pull a nassarius out of my 4 headed hammer about a week ago. The shells obviously are unaffected but if the snail it self get touched by the hammer it will sting it. Ive lost snails to my torches as well.
