My tank is about 4 months old and I started to see this algae about a month ago. Its brown in colour, and have a slimy and stringy look.

I was thinking Cyano too, but OP said it was "Brown and stringy", so figured brown hair.

If under white lights it's more red in color, it's probably Cyano.

A few questions
1. Did you use live rock or dry rock?
2. What kind of lights do you have, and can you adjust the white light on them?
2. What is your flow like? Aka do you have power heads?

Algae/Cyano like this grow mostly in areas where there is low flow. If you can get a powerhead pushing some more water over the rocks, it will help reduce the growth.

Also, if your lights are adjustable, dial down the white's. The only thing that benefits from white light is algae, so reducing it in turn reduces nuisance algae growth.
