My tanks been cycling for 2 weeks so far using turbostart and bottled ammonia. I also have filter socks in the sump which I change every 4 days. Someone on my last post suggested im ready for a water change so I did that because my nitrites still seem to be high.

Something that concerns me is the water I used. I use the same buckets for collecting rodi and adding saltwater, so when I make rodi the ppm in the bucket is usually 1-3 (from previous saltwater on the bucket walls) but when I test the rodi in a cup its 0 so I know the rodi is 0ppm. I just want to confirm that the ppm from the bucket is just from left over salt is safe to use correct? It couldn't be anything else but saltwater residue that messes with the ppm reading and I don't think that could make the water unsafe. I ask because my nitrites still seem to be a bit higher now than before, nothing else just nitrites. Can my nitrites will go down with more water changes?
