Hello i'm getting fire fish and people are saying even one gap will have them on the floor, so is my lid good enough? or some of these gaps are too big?

the mesh is 8mm*8mm or 5/16 inch * 5/16 inch. its wider than most mesh but if this is too big, i can add more strings diagonally

there are some cord holes im kinda concerned. they are about 1cm/0.4 inch on both sides of the lid. i can tape the empty ones up just to be safe.

theres another 5mm/0.2 inch wide lid track on both sides. I assume they are narrow enough?

My biggest concern is the larger gap at one corner where i have a bunch of tubes going thru but also leaves a rather big gap.

I think this needs to be closed up but dont have a good idea of how. I take the lid off quite often so i dont want to tape the lid together with the tank. does anyone have a good idea?

TIA

1000% will jump. Swap the mesh to 5/16’ to be safe and cover all of those gaps.

I kept a firefish for years and it never jumped (my tanks have no lids). Make sure it has its own personal cave, its own space, tank not too crowded, and the fish will bolt to the rocks instead of upwards

I have a firefish with a lid but I have never seen him once attempt to jump. My firefish has a rock on the sandbed he retreats to when scared.

In the almost two years of having mine, I saw mine maybe jump once? I had more issues with my watchman goby jumping than my firefish, haha

Thanks guys. interesting to see some different experiences, but i only have a 20 gal so there isnt a lot of space and i had a sixline wrasse jumped thru a covered lid (not this lid) and a watchman goby jumped the only day no lid is on after a rock work restructure so i really dont wanna risk it. I spent the night knitting the mesh and covered those gaps. I'll drop in store to get the fish tmr and finger crossed it would keep them in tank 🤞
