Can LPS corals open too much

Is it possible that LPS corals can open too much? And if so is it a bad sign? I ask this as I have had a blue wall hammer coral for at least a year, it's a good 8 inchs across when open. Today I come in from work and find it to be open like I've never seen it before.

Bad signs are usually the opposite, sucked up and not extended.
