Can you Would You Do This?

Basically long story short Im interested in A refug or some sort of scrubber maybe UV light.

My sump is on the small size compared to most I’m assuming because of how tight everything is.

My tank is E260 RS AIO
The tank has space in the back side that runs deep. It even has a media chamber rack that runs from top to bottom.

My question is…

Can you would you figure out a way to create a refug in the back aio chamber, like having a thin submersible led light back there facing away from the rear glass of the tank toward the chaeto mimicking a refug.

Or would you think of something in the sump.

Or do I even need one?

My nitrates & phos are always at zero.

Very light bioload and my skimmer usually skims out a good about of proteins running at 75 %

I just don’t like how quick film algae grows on the glass and also the hair algae on my wavemaker and light green algae on my rock and bottom glass when my white light is on, along with some light strands of some hair algae on some drag plugs.

Will I get all that chaeto in my display & pumps?

If your nitrate and phosphate are already at zero you most likely would not be able to keep chaeto. As far as the film on the glass, in my experience, if your lights are bright enough to grow coral, you’re going to have to constantly do a little glass cleaning.

i run a scrubber and it will not stop film algae on glass. And the scrubber is about 3-5x stronger than a comparable sized refugium of cheato. There’s really not much you can do to stop film algae on glass except not light the tank

I don’t mind cleaning it I’m just afraid of leaving a scratch on my glass. Every time I scrape it is another chance it may get scratched. When I find a scratch it drives me crazy.

If you figure all this out sign me up ;) If I want my tanks looking nice glass has to be cleaned every other day. Doesn't matter if it's the tank with nutrients at or near zero or the one that has NO3 at 30 and PO4 0.6. Just be careful and maybe look into the tunze care magnet scrapers. I've had good luck with them. I hate scratches as well but find them therapeutic lol. I can and do clean my frag plugs as needed.
Green under white lights? Heck ya and I'd be willing to bet most people that say no don't run all white to see it.

Algae is a natural part of the systems we keep not some evil thing that needs to be exterminated. JMO

EDIT: As to the fuge I like having one but I like them for the habitat they provide to the little beneficial creatures to live and reproduced without predation.

I find that an algae scrubber works far better than a macro algae refugium, at least space efficiency-wise!

I’d say look at a scrubber lit from both sides, possibly toss some rock/rubble in the bottom of the chamber to serve as a microfauna refugium…

Either an algae scrubber or a macroalgae refugium (on reverse photoperiod from your DT) will serve to help stabilize day/night PH fluctuations in the tank, regardless of the specific filtration need!

That's a fantastic set of photos. You've got me wanting to make this comparison with my tank. Both photos are beautiful in their own ways.
