Cancer is not fun

Hey guys,
Back in January 2006, my cousin was diagnosed with brain cancer. She was only given about 2 years to live in St. Louis...she had 2 brain tumor surgeries in those 2 years and after that the St. Louis hospital said there was nothing more they could do for her, so we had her file transferred to St Jude Children's Research Hospital and they helped her until August 12, 2012...the day she passed away...I'll remember that date forever...
I'm not posting this post for sympathy or for money, I'm posting this because I want to raise cancer awareness and pay forward all the donations to St Jude that helped keep my cousin and countless others alive. Some people do beat this nasty disease, others end up like my cousin..why don't we give them all a fighting shot? They are our warriors and honestly some of the best most uplifting people you'll ever meet, at least I know it's true for me...so I encourage becoming a part of St Jude's Partner In Hope program, buying the donations on QVC, participating in a marathon or even a cancer walk for whatever hospital or cancer you decide is worthy of your support...myself, I am wearing grey and black the whole month of May (grey for Brain Tumor Awareness) (black for Melanoma Awareness month, for a friend of mine with stage IV Melanoma, get checked if you have a suspicious mole please!) and I am a Partner in Hope. it's just that easy to promote awareness, so please please please help our cancer fighters out and raise awareness and pray and donate if you've got the means and time to do it, thank you!

This disease is so sad and I am sure almost everyone has been affected by it in some way. Sorry about your cousin, I recently lost my sister (not to cancer) but possibly from other diseases. Death is hard to manage and it leaves a scar in everyones hearts.

I'm sorry for the loss of your cousin Slideways48 and your sister ReefMadScientist.

Cancer is the worst thing in the world.
I can pretty confidently say that there is no one around that does not know someone fairly close to them that has had cancer.

My mother had a very uncommon form of it (Galblatter Cancer). She finished chemo and radiation therapy about 2 months ago and the doctors feel confident that she will be fine.
I have lost my uncle and cousin to pancreatic cancer and several close friends to other forms of cancer.

Lost my Father to Lung Cancer. He stopped smoking when I was born and I am 35. Cancer can hit anyone and it sucks that anyone has to go through it.

Thank you ReefMadScientist, it's been a long road to get where I am today, and actually be able to talk about it...I'm so sorry about your sister :( there are no words to say how sorry I am :( God Bless you too and always remember that that scar on your heart is there to remind you of the good times you had with her, don't dwell on the bad

Have lost 2 sisters in the past 7yrs to cancer. Most recent in March of 2013. From stomach cancer. She was 63yrs old.
The sis in 2006 was only 48yrs old, from esophageal cancer :(
Both left with husbands, children and grand children behind...myself and younger sis.
Talk about some scared hearts......

At least they had time though to do things during their life. My nephew never had a chance to do many of the things we all take for granted every day.

I have always said that when I have the means to make a donation to cancer research I will do it. This disease needs to be conquered. One day we will have a cure. If you have the means to make a difference, please do.

I completely agree with you, this disease needs to be conquered...I don't donate a lot of money, only $20 a month to St Jude, but $20 is $20 less somebody has to spend...one day, it'll be more than that, y'all have my promise I will work hard to make a difference!!! And I'm sorry about your nephew cdness, 5 years old is way too young, any age is too young, but especially an innocent child like that :(

I too lost my sister 26 yrs old with bone cancer. she had it when she was 16 yrs old and struggled for 10 years and finally she passed away 4 years ago. Such a young age and she did not get to enjoyed and see her nieces and nephews. RIP sister

I'm so sorry to hear this, she must be a very strong person to deal with that much pain for so long...you're right, way too young :(
