I cant seem to get a good amount of flow. And like half my corals/BTAs are ticked off. Lol. I have an icecap 1k, nero 3, and dual return pumps. And this is ny rockwork. Plz plz plz help me better design my tank and help with flow. My tank is the JBJ 45g aio My livestock include;
1x Acanthophylia fire and ice
1x frankenstein mushroom coral
1x 8 polyp stratosphere colony
1x acan lord colony
2x clone coloardo sunburst BTAS
1x rock flower anenome

Couple more tank details

What are your parameters and what are using to test with?

Light and the intensity? Par if you know it

How old is the tank?

A video of your tank under white lights would be helpful to see the kind of flow you are putting out

Are you still using the stock pump and have you cleaned it lately?
Would you be able to post a FTS with the blue off and whites turned up so we can see what's going on.

TIA

It seems like it should be plenty of flow with your equipment, what makes you associate the corals being ticked off with flow?

Flow can be tricky since differing coral like differing amount of flow. There is some trial and error to creating what the coral want: if they appear retracted because they are being buffered then move them to an area where the flow is less but of course you need to keep their light needs in mind too. The mushrooms, acans and RFA are going to want moderate to lower flow most likely. From the one pic the RFA looked happy. Torches and most SPS can take pretty high flow. Being that your tank is more cube-ish in shape that does make it more difficult to get more varying flow rates in different parts of the tank. You can point powerheads towards the surface for higher flow high up in the tank. Typically the high flow coral also prefer the higher light intensities so that can work. That should lessen some of the flow low in the tank where where lower flow and lower light coral can reside. The one problem with this strategy is the sand can accumulate detritus and cyano can be an issue. Ask me how I know that? 😖

Yes, with such a large wavemaker and your return pump, that seems like more than enough flow.

I suspect it may be something else as well if the corals seem unhappy. Do you have more photos?
